    Hi Everyone

I havent been on here in ages, but thought this would be the best place to see what mothers think! I've decided that for my best friends girls, i want to start there own collections of figures (ie precious moments, peter rabbit etc) but im not sure if there mum will like the idea. i dont want to spoil it by asking as i want it to be a suprise to her too. Is this a good idea?

I want to get them something they can keep, not someting they will grow out of. Let me know what you think

I don't think it's a bad idea, if they have somewhere to display the figurines so they don't get broken.

That would be a lovely present, and very thoughtful.

I know we probably wouldn't continue the collection... but hey, don't let that put you off. You know your friends better than we do. If they're like that, I'm sure they'd love it.

I wouldn't because you don't know if she actually likes collectables. Personally...I find them all to be dust collectors and I have enough issues finding time to clean, let alone dust tiny figurines.

It really depends if they're into that kind of thing...I collected (and occasionally still collect) Cherished Teddies figurines...some of mine are now about 18 years old.

bahahaha just thinking you probably shouldnt start a teddy bear collection thats for sure I got mine in 3 big boxes still cause df wont let me get them all out (however I think Im down to 2.5 boxes )
As much as you dont want to ruin the suprise for her too as you can see from the varous responses maybe you should ask her it will still be a suprise to the kids but if she doesnt agree it could be a good thing you did ask!

I think it's cool to collect things that will be worth something later on. Like limited edition coins, stamps etc. Though I suppose they aren't as personal as teddies and other more "gifty" things. You could however collect things with dates/times and places that mean something to the girls? When I was born Mum brought me a Halley's Comet coin in 1986 when it passed by. So the date was of some meaning to me

I would buy them 1 each to start off with. See everyone's response and then know as to continue.

I am guessing you are thinking birthday's, christmas, easter?

I would love it becuase it isn't a toy. I am so over picking up toys and bits and pieces.

You could even buy your friends girls a cabinet to keep them in even a small one for each of there rooms.
